The Microchip Electrophoresis System uses modern microchip technology for automatic and fast electrophoretic separation of nucleic acids.
It is an alternative to classic agarose gel electrophoresis, but equipped with a reusable microchip at the same time provides:
- high sensitivity of detection (10 times higher than ethidium bromide stained gel),
- high resolution and results repeatability (separation in the presence of two standardizing markers),
- high speed of automatic analysis (from 1 to 108 samples).
The control software provides a wide range of functions, useful for analysis and data processing (e.g. high-quality images ready for publication, presentations, etc.).
DNA Analysis
MultiNA enables analysis of DNA from 25 to 12000 bp in length, depending on the reagent kit used. You can examine:
- PCR products and multiplex PCR products,
- restriction enzyme cut products,
- oligonucleotides, e.g. primers.
Examples of applications:
- genotyping of bacterial strains,
- genotyping of transgenic animals
- control of insert length in plasmids,
- examination of deletions/insertions in the genome,
- detection of contamination in food and cosmetics.
RNA Analysis
Due to the RNA instability, many experiments require not only standard spectrophotometric evaluation, but also assess the degree of degradation of the isolated material before its further analysis. MultiNA is equipped with a software which calculates the sample concentration (ng/μl) automatically and the ratio of the 28R/18S rRNA subunits, which is a commonly accepted measure of RNA integrity.
Examples of applications:
- quality control of isolated RNA,
- quality control of extracellular synthesized mRNA.
